OUR FRIDGE RECYCLING IS




For over 10 years, BWP has been providing Energy Star® certified refrigerators to income-qualified residents through our Refrigerator Exchange Program. BWP participates in a voluntary program to ensure the proper disposal of old refrigerators using the best environmental practices, including recovery of refrigerant, used oil, appliance foam, and recycling durable materials.
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recently awarded BWP’s Refrigerator Exchange Program a Responsible Appliance Disposal (RAD) Champion Award and a 2022 RAD Program Growth Award for outstanding accomplishments in responsible disposal and increased program participation levels.

28,518 pounds of non-ferrous metals (e.g., copper)

Properly handled:
281 gallons of used oil
2 PCB-containing capacitors
28 mercury-containing components

ENERGY SAVINGS
Reduced energy use by:
35 million kilowatt hours (kWh), which translates to consumer savings of $4.88 million
